Dennis Bailey has a lifetime of trucking industry experience, which includes a long and distinguished career with Walmart Transportation spanning nearly 30 years as a Safety Manager and commercial motor vehicle (truck) driver. Dennis’ day to day experience while employed with Walmart included familiarity with and fleet compliance to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and industry standards of care on a wide range of industry topics of driver supervision. When commercial vehicle accidents within the Walmart fleet occurred, Dennis participated in a root cause analysis to identify whether the involved driver’s actions were reasonable under industry standards of care and whether retraining was necessary. Prior to Walmart, Dennis served as an Alabama State Trooper where he was assigned to the Motor Carrier Safety Unit.  Dennis was responsible for the enforcement of the FMCSRs along with the state transportation code.  Dennis also conducted safety and compliance reviews, conducted post-crash inspections and assisted local law enforcement agencies with Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) crash investigations.

In addition to Dennis’ career with Walmart, he served our country for over 28 years in United States Army (Reserve Component) achieving the rank of Sergeant Major – the third highest enlisted rank in the US Army. As a soldier, Dennis served in a capacity in which he regularly interacted with large pieces of wheeled equipment and heavy machinery, as well as those individuals/soldiers responsible for the safe operation of those vehicles. Since Dennis retired from Walmart and the US Army, he has remained active in the trucking community in various roles.
