Dennis Burke is a retired US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safety/Compliance Investigator of 30 years. Dennis was responsible for performing complex safety and compliance investigations of motor carriers, hazardous material shippers, and other transportation industry providers.
As an employee of USDOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Dennis served as an Associate Staff Instructor for the US Department of Transportation’s Transportation Safety Institute (TSI). The target audience was Federal and State investigators. The subject matter included techniques on how to properly apply industry standards of care within the transportation industry, including consistency to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) protocols followed by FMCSA.
Dennis retired from USDOT in 2017 and initially offered his expert services to the trucking industry and attorneys through his company, Enigma Solutions. Dennis served as a subject matter expert and consultant to the industry, while working as a seminar instructor for the Missouri Trucking Association. Dennis assists motor carriers and other fleets with their understanding of the industry standards of care.
Dennis began contracting with Transportation Compliance Experts in 2019, where he continues to serve as a subject matter expert regarding the application and interpretation of the FMCSRs to transportation industry partners, including legal counsel and insurers. Dennis provides deposition and trial testimony on a broad array of issues related to the application of the FMCSRs within the industry, giving consideration to industry standards of care applicable to fleets.
