Lane VanIngen is the founder and President of Transportation Compliance Experts (TCE), a widely respected DOT and OSHA expert witness group focused on navigating and interpreting complex transportation regulatory issues.
Lane is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, who soon after his graduation, went to work for the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Motor Carriers, under its Outstanding Scholar hiring authority as a motor carrier safety specialist (Special Agent). Once the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was formed, Lane was transferred into that organization and performed complex safety and compliance evaluations as a motor carrier safety specialist.
Lane formed Transportation Safety Services (TSS) in 2002 to provide safety and compliance consulting to the trucking industry, to provide outsourcing solutions to motor carriers. The company has provided industry safety and compliance consulting services to hundreds of entities in the trucking community over they years, including those who interact on a daily basis with shippers, brokers, and other industry stakeholders.
Lane formed TSS Consortium and Testing Services (TSSC) in 2014 to provide industry substance testing and employee fitness-for-duty evaluations to the clients of Transportation Safety Services, primarily those involving fleet operations. The company serves as a third-party administrator (TPA) for DOT and non-DOT testing programs.
Lane formed Transportation Compliance Experts (TCE) in 2018 to provide expert witness services that had previously been offered through Transportation Safety Services. Lane’s more than 30 years of experience in the transportation industry dealing with safety, regulatory compliance issues, risk management programs, and expert witness work make him uniquely suited to provide guidance to the trucking community broadly, as well as the ability to offer clear and concise expert witness testimony.
Lane has testified hundreds of times offering opinions related to regulatory compliance matters and to industry standards of care. While Lane has historically been retained in trucking accident cases regarding motor carrier operations, his focus has narrowed primarily to broker and shipper liability cases. Lane is always prepared to offer solutions to the motor carrier industry, counsellors, and insurers alike to assist in the complex transportation safety environment. Lane further provides developmental support to his team of DOT and OSHA subject matter experts, including those who serve as an expert witness.
